Officer Profiles

Thomas L. Criswell serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Bank.  In addition, he also serves as Board Member at both the Bank and Holding Company levels.  Mr. Criswell brings over thirty-four years of experience in the financial services industry to American Bank and Trust, most recently as President of a similarly-sized Midwestern bank. Mr. Criswell received his B.A. in Finance at the University of Illinois. His involvement in community includes serving as Executive Ambassador and Professional Advisory Council for OSF St. Joseph’s Hospital.
   
Lisa M. Winterlin serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank.  She joined the Bank in May 2012. Mrs. Winterlin is a certified public accountant and earned a Bachelor of Accounting degree from St. Ambrose University.  She oversees all aspects of financial and risk management operations for the bank and holding company, serves as Corporate Treasurer and Chair of the ALCO committee.  Mrs. Winterlin brings over 20 years of experience in accounting, finance and tax, 5 years of which she served over 20 Midwestern community bank clients.
   
John T. Kustes serves as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President.  His functional management responsibilities include board secretary, cashier, security officer, and overall bank operations.  Mr. Kustes is a certified public accountant and earned both his bachelor's and MBA degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He also holds an Operations Certificate from the BAI School for Bank Administration.  Mr. Kustes joined the bank in 2006, and has over 40 years of bank management and operations experience in the Quad Cities metropolitan area. 
   
Andrew J. Guzzo Andrew J. Guzzo serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Business Development Officer. Mr. Guzzo earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Ambrose University. He has over 20 years of sales management and business development experience. He previously served as Vice President of Sales for a division of U.S. Foodservice, Inc.
   
Lindsey M. Ramos Lindsey M. Ramos serves as Senior Vice President – Retail Banking and is responsible for hiring, training and leading market associates and execution of overall retail strategy for the Bank.  Mrs. Ramos earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, Management major, from Western Illinois University, and joined the Bank in 2005.  She has over 17 years of banking experience.  Mrs. Ramos serves on the Board of Directors for Renew Moline.
   
Dan P. Jaros Dan P. Jaros serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. Mr. Jaros joined the Bank in 1998.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Iowa, and graduated from the ABA Commercial Lending School and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.  His responsibilities include oversight of the Bank's lending activities.
   
Robert D. Krohn Robert D. Krohn serves as Senior Vice President – Commercial Lending Officer, Quad Cities.  Mr. Krohn has worked in the industry in various roles for 40 years.  He assists current and prospective clients with commercial lending and deposit needs.
   
Garrett E. Buhle Garrett E. Buhle serves as Senior Vice President – Commercial Market Manager, Chicago. He started in banking in 1989, and joined American Bank and Trust in 2008.  Mr. Buhle is responsible for overseeing commercial lending for Chicagoland and the Bank’s Kane County Market.  He earned  a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois and MS – Finance from DePaul University.
   
Charles E. Sorensen serves as Senior Vice President and Consumer Loan Manager in the Quad Cities and Kane County area markets. His staff supports consumer lending, credit card services, merchant point of sale capture, and residential mortgage lending.  Mr. Sorensen double majored, earning his BSS degree in Business and Economics and Physical Education from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Mr. Sorensen has over 22 years of lending experience of which the past 11 years have been in banking.
   
Thomas E. Johanns serves as Senior Vice President Trust Manager for the Quad Cities and Kane County area markets.  Tom is responsible for the strategic direction, safety, audit and accountability of the Trust Department. He is also responsible for individual trust relationships and investment management accounts as well as portfolio management of the Trust Department investment models. Tom has over 16 years of experience as a Portfolio Manager and Trust Officer. He received a B.S. from Iowa State University, is a Graduate of the Cannon Trust School from Cannon Financial Institute and holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) designation from the College for Financial Planning. Tom is a member of the Quad Cities Estate Planning Council as well as serving his community as a Township Trustee and as a member of the Board of Education. His interests include helping with the Special Olympics and support of the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in Vinton, IA.
