Relationship Specialist/Teller

Job Summary:

 

The Relationship Specialist/Teller contributes to the profitability and growth of American Bank & Trust by selling and cross selling retail banking products and services to new and existing customers according to established procedures and standards.  This associate contributes to the development and retention of customer relationships by providing a consistently high level of customer service and will process customer transactions in a timely, accurate manner, adhering to established policies and procedures. 

 

*Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service by achieving both customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Actively solicits and opens new accounts, including checking, savings, Debit Cards/ATM Cards, telephone & Internet banking, bill payment, certificates of deposit, IRAs, trust, brokerage, insurance, safe deposit, Visa credit cards, Merchant Processing and other retail products.  The associate must also provide thorough and accurate documentation of the new account.
  • Must obtain extensive knowledge of American Bank’s data processing system.  Detailed knowledge of retail computer applications is fundamental.  Usage of these systems includes the input of new accounts, maintenance of existing accounts, and inquiries.  General knowledge of the mortgage & consumer loan computer applications is also important.
  • The associate will be able to discuss all types of consumer loans and properly complete a consumer loan application.  Through training and self-study, the employee must develop the knowledge and skills necessary to accurately process and document consumer loans.  This includes all related computer systems.
  • Process customer transactions according to established procedures in a friendly, pleasant, businesslike manner.
  • Balance cash drawer according to established procedures and report any teller cash differences to the direct supervisor/manager immediately.
  • Participate in the team effort to accomplish branch sales and operational goals.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to ensure branch coverage.

Education and/or Experience:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1 year retail or financial product sales required.
  • Minimum 1 year cash handling required.
  • Minimum 2 year face-to-face customer service required.
  • Experience in a professional financial environment preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to discuss bank products with current or prospective customers including during aisle time.

 

Other:

 

  • Must be available to work varying hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
