American Bank of Rock Island was chartered under the state banking laws of Illinois in 1968. On July 2, 1998, American Bank & Trust Company was incorporated under Iowa state law. On September 5, 2002 American Bank & Trust Company, a subsidiary of AmBank Holdings, Inc., was chartered as a National Association bank under the laws of the United States. American Bank & Trust Company, N.A.’s head office is located at 4301 East 53rd Street, Davenport, Iowa 52807-3861.

Management of the Company and the Bank is led by a board of directors. As with any financial institution, the ultimate responsibility for enforcing bank policies and maintaining the financial health of the organization rests with the board of directors. The same locally-residing individuals presently serve on both the Company and Bank boards. The board members’ experience is well-rounded, with an emphasis in business management and development, and each of the directors understands community banking. The Company expects its directors to serve as a referral source of additional bank customers and business.

Rakesh Alla has served as Chairman of the Bank since 2015 and a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 2012.  Currently, Mr. Alla also serves as Strategic Manager of the Bank where he leads strategic initiatives related to revenue enhancement and optimizing operational efficiencies.  From 2004 until its sale in 2016, Mr. Alla served as Chief Operating Officer of Quad Cities Kidney Center Ltd., a ten facility healthcare provider in western Illinois and eastern Iowa specializing in renal dialysis treatments for patients with kidney disease.  Prior to his role as a healthcare executive, Mr. Alla served as a management consultant with Deloitte and Ernst & Young with engagements in systems implementations and business process re-engineering across the internet, telecommunications and financial services industries.  Mr. Alla earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated magna cum laude.  Mr. Alla also earned a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Strategy and Marketing from the University of Michigan Business School.  He has served and continues to serve on the Boards of various non-profit organizations including Two Rivers YMCA, Family Museum, Child Abuse Council, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Mr. Alla is also a majority shareholder of the Holding Company.

Jeffrey P. Rose has served as President and Chief Executive Officer and as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 2016.  He brings over 30 years of banking and financial services industry experience and talent to the Bank – its customers, associates, and shareholders.  Demonstrating the breadth of his skill set, Mr. Rose has served as a strategist, change agent and turnaround specialist, among others, in his various roles within the banking industry.  He has previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of numerous community financial institutions, including banks and a credit union.  Prior to his roles in community banking, Mr. Rose held senior-level positions with money center institutions in California, Texas and Iowa including Wells Fargo Bank, J.P. Morgan Chase and U.S. Bank.  His areas of practice comprised oil and gas, large corporate, middle market, leveraged finance, workouts and debtor-in-possession lending.  Mr. Rose earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Iowa.  He also attained a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Texas.  He is active in banking industry advocacy at both state and federal levels.  Mr. Rose has also served on several Boards or been involved in various community organizations including: UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Two Rivers YMCA, Renew Moline, Development Association of Rock Island and the Chamber of Commerce Regional Opportunities Council

James V. Russell currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Holding Company and has served as a Director of the Bank since 2003.  In 1983, Mr. Russell founded Russell Construction Company, a professional services firm providing commercial construction and development services across the Midwest.  As a true entrepreneur, Mr. Russell has led the growth of the company to 150 industry professionals, over $180 million in annual sales and expanded service offerings including Construction, Real Estate Development and Facilities Management.  Russell Construction Company was previously recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S., and has also been named one of Iowa’s Best Businesses by IA Biz Magazine.  To date, Russell Construction Company has completed over $1 billion in projects in 31 states for such clients as Deere & Company, St. Ambrose University, Augustana College, Genesis Health Systems, UnityPoint Health-Trinity and Iowa 80 Group.  Mr. Russell graduated from Iowa State University with a Construction Engineering degree.  As a strong advocate of giving back to the community, Mr. Russell currently serves on numerous community and professional boards.

Steven R. Schroder has served as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 1995.  Mr. Schroder is President of E.H. Schroder Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent insurance agency that has served the Quad Cities community for nearly 100 years.  He has served as the past president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Rock Island County.  Mr. Schroder remains active in various non-profit organizations including the Rock Island Kiwanis Club, where he also served as past president.  He is a graduate of Black Hawk Jr. College.  In addition, Mr. Schroder is an active member and Elder at South Park Presbyterian Church.  Mr. Schroder’s father, Kermit Schroder, was a founding member of the Bank and one of its original directors.

Matthew J. Stern  Matthew Stern has served as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 2012.  Since 2002, Mr. Stern has held various executive positions with Stern Beverage, Inc., a distributor of Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), Constellation Brands, and Nestle products serving territories in western Illinois.  In addition to being the world’s largest brewer, AB InBev is a multinational drink and brewing company with a portfolio of widely-recognized brands including Anheuser-Busch, AmBev, Grupo Mondelo and SABMiller.  Currently, he serves as President and Chief Financial Officer for the family-owned and operated enterprise.  Mr. Stern is also one of eighteen business leaders nationwide to be appointed to serve on the AB InBev Wholesaler Senior Management Panel which provides strategic guidance to the global manufacturer.  Prior to his roles in consumer goods, Mr. Stern was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank for nearly 10 years specializing in mergers & acquisitions, corporate debt, and stock offerings, including postings in New York, London and Tokyo.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with High Honors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.  Mr. Stern also earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  In 2017, Mr. Stern was awarded the Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Rock Island.  He is a member of the Development Association of Rock Island (DARI), serves on the Board of the Ride with Kelly Foundation, and previously served on the Boards of non-profit entities including Quad City Arts, Black Hawk College Foundation and Bethany for Children & Families.

John D. Timmer has served as Vice Chairman of the Bank and Chairman of the Holding Company since 2015, and as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 2012.  Mr. Timmer is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner, and is President of Timmer And Associates, CPA, PC (TAA), a full-service accounting and consulting firm with offices in Illinois and Iowa.  His firm specializes in professional services for businesses and individuals including tax, audit, financial & tax planning, estate planning, business valuation, strategic business & succession planning, forensic accounting, payroll, and elder care.  Prior to his role with TAA, Mr. Timmer held positions for a number of years with Big 4 accounting firm KPMG in Chicago with a focus on auditing services within the real estate and manufacturing industries.  Mr. Timmer earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed public accountant in Illinois and Iowa.  Currently, Mr. Timmer serves as President of Oakwood Country Club.  He has also served on the Boards of several non-profit organizations in the community including Friendship Manor and Tudi’s Tribe.

Vernon M. Wegerer has served multiple terms as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company totaling 30 years.  Mr. Wegerer is a founding member of KJWW Engineering Consultants (now IMEG Corp.), a U.S.-based engineering consulting firm specializing in high-performing building systems, infrastructure and construction-related services with 1,000 personnel across 30 locations worldwide.  The firm is ranked among the Top 5 engineering companies in the U.S. based on revenue.  Mr. Wegerer previously held various leadership roles with the firm including President and CEO.  Prior to his role with KJWW, Mr. Wegerer served in the United States Air Force.  Now retired, he continues to provide management oversight of construction projects for the Catholic Diocese of Peoria and Friendship Manor among others.  Mr. Wegerer earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University and maintains a license as a Professional Engineer in Illinois and Iowa.  Among his other achievements, he has been recognized with the American Consulting Engineer Council Fellow Award, Kansas State University Hall of Fame Award, and Outstanding Alumnus Award from Pratt Community College.  Mr. Wegerer has also served on the Boards of numerous organizations including: Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Department of Transportation, Kansas State University Alumni Board, Western Illinois University’s School of Engineering, UnityPoint Health-Trinity and Friendship Manor.

Michele F. White has served as a Director of the Bank and Holding Company since 2018.  Since 1994, Ms. White has held various leadership roles with Lee Enterprises, a U.S-based media company providing local news, information and advertising in primarily midsize markets across 21 states including 48 daily newspapers, digital products and content, and nearly 300 specialty publications.  Currently, she serves as Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Information Technology where her duties and achievements include: oversight and responsibility for all areas of IT, technology integration management related to company acquisitions, centralization of key line of business applications and processes, and call/data center optimization.  Prior to her role with Lee Enterprises, Ms. White served for more than 10 years as a systems engineer with IBM Corporation with responsibilities for technical sales and enterprise-wide implementation of mid-range computer systems across commercial clients.  Ms. White earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management Information Systems from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.  She has also participated in various programs with Junior Achievement and served on several committees at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA.
